WE RE-OPEN at the end of August, 2010 As we are currently refurbishing the gallery area, we temporarily have nothing on display - all artwork is in storage. However, you are more than welcome to collect pre-ordered items from our workshop at any time. This doesn't affect delivery times of prints, these are printed and packed in a different building. Apologies: we were to have been open at the end of July, but between commercial print commitments and getting work ready for the opening, I'm on-the-go 18-20 hours a day. Sorry, but delaying opening for a month allows me a bit of flexibility to keep most people happy for at least part of the time.
Overlooking Cwmllynfell: our home town which nestles in the foothills of the Black Mountain in South Wales. We're right at the gateway to the Brecon Beacons National Park - one of Britain's most beautiful areas of wilderness. Only 15 minutes drive from Junction 45 of the M4, about 25 minutes drive from Central Swansea, 45 Minutes drive from Cardiff. About 3 hours from London or Manchester, but why not make a day of it if you're visiting our area - lots of other things to see and do around this area, from the fabulously picturesque scenery of the Black Mountain itself (regularly a backdrop on Top Gear) to DAN YR OGOF CAVES, one of the biggest cave systems in Europe, to waterfalls, activity centres, quadbiking etc etc.

We're Welsh / British artists: Muriel Williams and Mark Lloyd Williams (mother and son) We started Black Mountain Gallery as a place to create and display our own work. The whole thing started back in the '90s, when we bought a former industrial site consisting of several large workshops and a huge outdoor area and car-park. We converted one of these workshops to a gallery, which ran successfully until 2003. We closed the retail side of our business in order to concentrate on the rapidly increasing volume of printed artwork selling through outside galleries. This was rapidly becoming the mainstay of the business at the time. Actually, it always will be - but it's now well established so we can devote a bit more time to running our own gallery again. Black Mountain Gallery is pretty much unique: All our Prints, paintings, sculpture and ceramics are created entirely on site. Although we've spent the past 7 years selling prints through other galleries, when we re-open we'll be one of the largest open studios in the UK which sells work straight from the artist to the customer.
Our aim is to have something for everyone: far more than we are currently showing on this site: the new gallery will have lots of landscape work, many of our prints, Some photography, some sculpture in steel, cast aluminium and ceramic. We'll even have a bit of the more unusual work which we usually reserve for our re-seller galleries. Victorian artist and entrepreneur, Williams Morris always said there's a great deal of satisfaction in seeing a job through from start to finish. Jobs are better done that way. As far as possible, everything is done by ourselves at our own workshops. Obviously, all the paintings we sell are created here. We even make blank canvasses and picture frames here on site, at our own carpentry shop. All the printing is carried out at our own print shop, again, on site. Sculpture in cast metal, ceramic or welded steel is made at our own workshops, right here. It's an unusual way of doing things. But we offer a better product at a better price.
