two pears hand pulled etching by Mark Lloyd Williams
Etching on 300gram paper printed from a metal printing plate run through a traditional etching press: the medieval-style roller contraption that's been in use since the 1400s.
The printing plate is made by covering a metal plate with varnish then scratching through an outline design with a needle-like scriber. Treatment with a corrosive solution burns this outline into the plate. Subsequent "burns" will add shading, and finally the plate is enhanced by scraping off some metal with a knife to add detail.
This is an edition of 50 on heavy 300gsm paper, each signed and numbered in pencil in the margin. There is a generous 7cm border around the image. Supplied loose: not framed or mounted.
